JAVA2

DATE: 2015 | LOCATION:  Palm Beach, Gold Coast, QLD

Java2 is an understated retro / modernist 2-storey, 4-bedroom family home.

The Clients admired Palm Springs style with large covered external areas and breeze blocks, which Shane Denman Architects incorporated into an easy flowing floor plan.  Stackbond blockwork, polished concrete floor, Hardies Linea weatherboards were used throughout with a splash of colour showcasing the Clients’ fun nature.

Ground-level caters for open plan living, amenities and two covered decks.  A family room with a corner cavity sliders enables the area to be isolated or open into the living zone.  Access to a partially covered deck and secret cubby house make a fantastically inviting area for children.

A double-sided fireplace in the main living area separates in and outdoors.  A floating concrete seat ties the areas together neatly allowing up-close enjoyment of the fireplace.

Entry, stair and dining areas share a double-height space while strategically placed windows and beams are visually interesting.  Additionally, these features allow sunlight in creating natural light and shadow displays.

Upstairs has 4 bedrooms, ensuite, bathroom, study and sewing nooks.

An external entertaining area overlooks the pool and beautifully landscaped yard with mature tuckeroo trees and native, low maintenance planting.
